“Our number one priority is ensuring peace and stability around Armenia.” – Mirzoyan
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan spoke about the priorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in the National Assembly.
The top priority of Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to ensure peace and stability around the Republic of Armenia.
The Foreign Minister answered whether issues such as Nagorno-Karabakh, international recognition of genocide, and participation in COP-29 are on the agenda.
Responding to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Minister stated that their focus is on the normalization of relations with Azerbaijan.
Mirzoyan also addressed the issue of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, mentioning that this is not their number one priority.
Studying the historical events and making the Armenian Genocide a primary focus of foreign policy is certainly not on the Ministry’s agenda.
Mirzoyan also touched upon COP-29.
Outside of COP-29, we are constantly discussing the immediate release of prisoners and other detained individuals in our dialogues with Azerbaijan and other partners. This remains one of our top priorities for ongoing discussions. Our participation has not been confirmed in any way. We have received the invitation but have not yet expressed any official response or stance on this matter and, of course, do not rule it out.
Speaking about the “Peace Crossroad,” Mirzoyan is confident it will become a significant hub.
We continue our efforts. I am almost certain that at some point in the near future, the “Peace Crossroad” and the unblocking of our infrastructure will indeed become an important and highly utilized hub for the movement of goods between different geopolitical centers. This will also enhance the security of the Republic of Armenia to a significant degree. It will become a factor promoting peace.
