3 properties have been returned to the community from the former head of the Avshar community, Surik Grigoryan. These include 3 plots of land and buildings on them, valued at over 78 million drams.
Surik Grigoryan held this position from 1997 to 2011 and again from 2013 to 2022. According to the Investigative Committee, the donated property was exploited against the interests of the community and its residents, depriving the community of potential income. This caused financial damage to the community.
A criminal case was initiated against him by the Investigative Committee. He is accused of abuse of official authority.
Following Surik Grigoryan, Argam Zakaryan was appointed administrative head. In a conversation with us, he mentioned that the process of returning the property has not yet been completed, and discussions about managing the property have not taken place. He added that the property will serve the community.
