The three opposition parties that passed in the Parliament of Georgia have resigned from their mandates

The three opposition forces that passed in the Parliament of Georgia have applied to the Central Election Commission to resign from their mandates. The Central Election Commission of Georgia has annulled the party lists of the three opposition coalitions.

Representatives of the “Coalition for Change” (19 mandates), “Unity-National Movement” (16 mandates), and “Strong Georgia” (14 mandates) coalitions have taken this step as a protest against the “fraudulent elections.” They accuse the ruling “Georgian Dream” party of “stealing votes through various manipulations.”

Beka Liluaashvili, a member of the party “Gakharia for Georgia,” which passed the parliamentary threshold, has stated that his party will determine its future independently, without the influence of “Unity-National Movement” or “Georgian Dream.”

Presidential elections in Georgia will take place on December 14, and the inauguration ceremony will be held on December 29. The next president will be elected by a 300-member electoral college, which will include members of the Georgian Parliament, the Supreme Councils of the Autonomous Republics of Adjara and Abkhazia, as well as representatives of local government bodies.

The likely candidate for the presidency of Georgia is Irakli Garibashvili, the leader of the “Georgian Dream” party.
