Rev. Tade Tahmazian has been defrocked
By the order of Karekin II, the spiritual pastor of the Talin region, Rev. Father Tade Tahmazian, was defrocked today. The Diocese of Aragatsotn informs about this.
According to the statement by the Diocese of Aragatsotn, the basis for the defrocking were the report of the Administrative Council of the Diocese of Aragatsotn and the conclusion of the Commission for the Awarding of Honors and Disciplinary Issues.
Among the justifications, it is mentioned that Father Tade discredited the Armenian Church and its clergymen by disseminating public defamatory statements, participated in anti-church actions, demonstrated insubordination towards the ecclesiastical authority, and also omitted the commemoration of the names of the Catholicos and the Primate during the Divine Liturgies, thereby violating the hierarchical order.
The defrocked priest will henceforth be counted among the laity under the name Aramayis Tahmazian.
It should be recalled that a few days ago, Rev. Father Tade Tahmazian celebrated a Divine Liturgy in the Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) Church of Talin, where Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was also present. The priest had earlier expressed his support for Stepan Asatryan (formerly Father Aram).
