The church responds to the Statement
The Mother See has responded to the statement signed yesterday evening by the Prime Minister and ten bishops.
The Church emphasizes that the steps taken by the Prime Minister under the pretext of regulating internal life and “reformation” contradict the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, violating rights enshrined by international legal norms.
The statement notes that the involvement of bishops in anti-church processes is reprehensible, and matters related to church life can be discussed exclusively within the relevant ecclesiastical bodies.
The Church also expressed bewilderment that the ten bishops who signed the statement have yet to respond to the calls addressed to them by the Mother See, continuing to avoid meetings with the Catholicos and the Supreme Spiritual Council.
In response to the creation of a coordinating council, the Church notes that reformation processes are not reserved for any self-proclaimed council; they belong exclusively to the Hierarchy of the Apostolic Church.
The Church emphasized that such steps could lead to a schism, with grave and painful consequences for both church life and society.
