Armenian Apostolic Church sues former clergyman of St. Astvatsatsin Church in Talin
The Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC) has filed a lawsuit against Aramayis Takhmazyan (formerly Father Tade), a former clergyman of the St. Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) Church in Talin. This information is derived from the “DataLex” information platform.
Takhmazyan was defrocked on December 3, 2025, by the decision of Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, based on the report of the Administrative Council of the Diocese of Aragatsotn and the conclusion of the Disciplinary Committee of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
In the legal claim, the Church requests the court to obligate Aramayis Takhmazyan and Hripsime Khachatryan to return and vacate Apartment 5, Building 3 on Myasnikyan Street in the town of Talin, Aragatsotn region, as well as to recover court costs, including the paid state duty.
Earlier, the Church also filed a separate lawsuit against Stepan Asatryan, the former priest of Hovhannavank. Meanwhile, Asatryan and Takhmazyan, in turn, have filed lawsuits against the Church, demanding to invalidate the Catholicos’ decisions and to be reinstated in their pastoral service. The court returned those lawsuits, setting a three-day deadline to correct the deficiencies.
