Aleppo–Yerevan–Aleppo Direct Flights Restored

Direct flights between Aleppo and Yerevan have resumed after a hiatus of about a year. The first flight from Aleppo International Airport will take place on November 7, initiated by the Syrian airline “FLYCHAM”. This was reported by the Armenian-language weekly “Gandzasar” in Aleppo.

The Aleppo airport was inoperative for a long time due to bombings and damage during the war years. It has been renovated in recent days.

The Aleppo–Yerevan route had previously been opened and closed several times due to the unstable security situation in the city. The resumption of flights has been received with great joy by the Syrian-Armenian community, as it will significantly ease and shorten the journey to Armenia, according to the newspaper’s statement.

Previously, in the absence of direct flights, travelers were forced to reach Beirut by land from Aleppo, and then travel to Yerevan by air from there, which was both costly and time-consuming. Now, following the opening of Turkish airspace, the Aleppo–Yerevan flight takes about one hour, which also reduces ticket prices.
