It will be possible to register marriages and divorces online in Armenia: The work of the Civil Status Acts Registration Agency (ZAGS) has been digitized

The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has almost entirely digitized the operations of the Civil Status Acts Registration Agency (ZAGS). Minister of Justice Surbuhi Galyan announced this on the air of the Public Television Company of Armenia. According to the Minister, citizens can now register a child’s birth, marriage, and divorce online without leaving their homes.

Furthermore, it is possible to submit an electronic application for changing a name or surname, as well as to assist the ZAGS bodies in the process of digitizing their documents. A citizen can log in to the website, request a document pertaining to them, and receive it without having to appear in person. She stated that, for instance, in the case of online registration of a child’s birth, they have ensured interoperability with both the “Armed” system and the system providing social services by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MLSA).

This means the medical certificate will be automatically transferred to the system, and parents will be able to choose the child’s first name and surname and receive the birth certificate. Galyan added that they have not yet started a public awareness campaign, but will soon implement one so that citizens are informed about the new opportunities.

Registration of individual entrepreneurs in the State Register will also become online soon, once the creation of a new digital platform for the state registration of legal entities is finalized.
