Air pollution in Yerevan has decreased
The air pollution levels in Yerevan have decreased. The air quality monitoring platform has updated its data, showing a reduction in pollution levels. On the evening of December 13, snow fell in several administrative districts of Yerevan, which, according to the municipality, helped clean the city’s air. The municipality stated on its Facebook page, “The snow cleaned the air pollution in Yerevan.”
However, the published map shows that in some areas, such as a section of Tsitsernakaberd Highway, the pollution level has reached the second-to-last dangerous level. In other parts of the city, low and moderate levels of pollution have been recorded.
The main causes of air pollution in Yerevan include transportation emissions, construction dust, as well as household and industrial factors. The municipality had previously reported that the main cause of pollution is the burning of various types of fuel for heating purposes, which leads to an increase in organic dust and smoke.
