Artak Davtyan is required to forfeit real estate worth approximately 545 million drams and about 97 million drams
The Prosecutor’s Office is demanding the forfeiture of more than 545 million 682 thousand drams worth of real estate and 97 million 371 thousand drams from Artak Davtyan, the former head of the Armed Forces General Staff, and individuals connected to him.
On December 6, 2024, the Anti-Corruption Court accepted the Prosecutor General’s Office’s latest lawsuit regarding the confiscation of property of illegal origin.
Artak Davtyan was appointed as the head of the Armed Forces General Staff on March 21, 2021. According to a decree published by the Presidential Administration, he was dismissed from his position on February 24, 2022.
He has been dismissed from the same position twice. After his first dismissal, during that period, Chief of General Staff Onik Gasparyan and other senior officers demanded Prime Minister Pashinyan’s resignation, resulting in Gasparyan’s dismissal. Artak Davtyan was reappointed to the position after him.
In 2022, Davtyan and other high-ranking officials of the Armed Forces and Ministry of Defense were sent to court. They were accused of abusing their official positions and acquiring expired ammunition. Alongside him in the defendant’s seat are the former commander of the Armed Forces Davit Tonoyan, the former head of the General Staff Stepan Galstyan, and 4 other individuals.
