Court Invalidates Increase in “Red Line” Parking Fees

The decision to raise parking rates in parking lots has been invalidated by a ruling from the Administrative Court. The rates, approved by the Yerevan City Council, had come into effect on January 1.

Hayk Kostanyan, the spokesperson for the Yerevan Municipality, noted on his Facebook page that the court’s decision has not yet entered into force. The municipality has one month to appeal the court’s decision.

The spokesperson added that payments already made will not be refunded.

Last year, the Yerevan City Council had approved new parking fees. In the smaller center, the cost for parking in the “red lines” was raised from 12,000 AMD per year to 160,000 AMD. Outside the small center, the annual fee now stands at 24,000 AMD.
