Electronic navigation seals for cargo control will become mandatory in the EAEU
The use of electronic navigation seals for cargo control within the territory of the EAEU will become mandatory starting from February 1, 2026. This was reported by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). The law will also apply in Armenia, as the latter is a member of the EAEU.
According to Ruslan Davidov, the EEC Minister for Customs Cooperation, the system will enable senders, recipients, and controlling bodies to monitor the movement of containers in real-time, as well as prevent the unauthorized opening and theft of goods.
A navigation seal is an electronic lock in which all cargo data—invoices, and information about the sender and recipient—are pre-registered. This mechanism will reduce control procedures, allowing businesses to transport goods within the EAEU territory with minimal inspections and checks, and benefit from more favorable insurance conditions.
It should be noted that the use of navigation seals has already been piloted between Russia and Armenia from July 1 to October 31, 2025.
