The Allowance Amount May Reach Up to 55,000 Drams

During a press conference, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan addressed the issue of allowance amounts. With the introduction of a new vulnerability assessment system, the allowance amount could reach 55,000 drams. Beneficiaries who refuse offered employment opportunities will be excluded from the system.

The minister stated that applications for vulnerability assessment will be treated as job applications, and applicants will be offered employment opportunities.

According to Mkrtchyan, the poverty threshold, currently set at 34,581 drams, has been taken as a benchmark. Instead of family and social allowances, a new vulnerability allowance will be introduced. This allowance will be granted to individuals considered vulnerable based on a 4 level poverty indicator: extreme vulnerability, moderate vulnerability, average vulnerability, and vulnerability. Under the current system, the average allowance is 33,350 drams. In the new system, the average amount will increase to 49,330 drams.

The allowance amount will be further supplemented by 5,900 drams due to cashback from non-cash payments. As a result, the average allowance could reach up to 55,000 drams. According to Mkrtchyan, the number of beneficiary families currently stands at 30,000.
