Composition of the Police Reforms Coordinating Council Approved

On January 15, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan issued a decision to establish the Police Reforms Coordinating Council. Its individual composition was approved. The council is chaired by Prime Minister Pashinyan, followed by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and heads of various departments and agencies. The council will also include representatives from 4 non-governmental organizations.

The primary goal of the council is to coordinate the priorities defined by the strategy and the measures derived from them.

The key directions outlined in the strategy for police sector reforms include establishing the Ministry of Internal Affairs, improving service quality, strengthening institutional links between the ministry and the police, finalizing the police management scheme and functionality, introducing a new institutional approach to human resource management in the police, and more.

It should be noted that a new phase of police sector reforms for 2024–2026 was adopted in 2024. All ongoing changes align with this strategy.
