Weapons and drugs discovered during searches in Gegharkunik; 11 suspects identified
As a result of operational and investigative actions conducted in the Gegharkunik province, law enforcement officers have discovered illegally possessed weapons, ammunition, and drugs across several settlements. The criminal proceedings were initiated back in November 2025.
The Gegharkunik Provincial Department of the Criminal Police had received operational information that a group of residents from the city of Sevan, as well as the villages of Gagarin, Tsaghkunk, and Lchashen, were illegally possessing weapons and drugs. Based on this information, criminal proceedings were initiated on November 15, followed by large-scale operational-search measures and investigative actions.
Based on the obtained data, the scope of suspects was clarified. On February 4, searches were conducted at the residences of 11 individuals.
During the searches, a grenade and cartridges were found in the house of a 34-year-old resident of Sevan. In the home of another 29-year-old Sevan resident, a revolver, a yellowish-green mass, and cannabis seeds were discovered.
In the house of a 52-year-old resident of Tsaghkunk village, law enforcement officers found 22 cannabis stalks with a total weight of about two kilograms, cannabis seeds, approximately 620 grams of a cannabis-like mass, as well as 32 containers filled with more than 11 kilograms of dried and crushed mass. In the home of a 49-year-old resident of Lchashen, about 288 grams of crushed cannabis-like mass were discovered.
The preliminary investigation into the case is ongoing, and all circumstances of the incident are being clarified.
