A Digital Unified System for Recording Cases of Domestic Violence to Be Introduced
On January 24, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs presented the first digital unified system for recording cases of domestic violence. The system is designed to collect comprehensive data on every case of domestic violence, its progress, and the services provided to victims, it will help prevent such incidents and enable quicker responses.
Such systems allow state agencies to develop evidence-based and data-driven policies aimed at preventing and addressing domestic violence, modernizing and improving protection and support measures for victims, and raising public awareness. The system is also crucial for monitoring the dynamics of violence cases, identifying repeat incidents and risk factors, and implementing appropriate preventive actions, – noted Minister Mkrtchyan.
The system will operate based on the government decision made on January 18. Data will be collected from various state bodies and non-governmental organizations. Information will be entered into the system by the Police, the Investigative Committee, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Judicial Department, support centers, and shelters. If necessary, other agencies, such as the Ministry of Health, may also input data.
The system was developed through the joint initiative of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the UN Population Fund, implemented by the “Nork” Social Services Technology and Awareness Center Foundation, with financial support from the European Union.
Similar systems are operational in several developed countries worldwide, including the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and others.
