Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan Expresses Discontent with “Telcell” and Unfilled Bus Driver Positions
On January 27, a working meeting took place at Yerevan City Hall, where Mayor Tigran Avinyan expressed dissatisfaction with his colleagues, particularly with the work done by “Telcell.” Avinyan also addressed the issue of bus drivers, noting that training courses need to be conducted.
During the meeting, the mayor stated that the driver retraining courses would provide an opportunity to prepare additional drivers. He made this suggestion to the director of “Yerevan Bus” CJSC.
Avinyan believes that this work should begin this week and that there should always be a pool of 50 to 100 potential drivers who could start work next week or even the following day.
Earlier, during the January 13 working meeting at City Hall, Avinyan had expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of recruiting new drivers for “Yerevan Bus” CJSC. The mayor noted that there are 50,000 individuals in Armenia with a category D driver’s license. Tigran Avinyan instructed that the recruitment of drivers be completed by the end of January.
Beglar Kirakosyan, the director of “Yerevan Bus” CJSC, announced during the January 27 meeting that there are still 44 vacant driver positions in the company.
Avinyan inquired with Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan about the delay with the “Telcell” system. The deputy mayor responded that the company had assured that ticket sales would be available in the mobile application today.
