Snow and blizzards in Armenia: several roads closed or difficult to pass

As of 09:00 on January 14, a number of highways in the republic are closed or difficult to pass due to snow, blizzards, and black ice. The roads from the Jermuk intersection to Sisian-Shinuhayr-Tatev-Kapan and Noravan-Ltsen-Tatev, as well as the Spitak mountain passes, are closed for trailer vehicles. The same restriction applies to the Tigranashen-Zangakatun road and sections of the Vardenyats Pass, which remain difficult to pass for other types of vehicles.

A similar situation is reported in the Ashotsk region and on the Spitak-Gyumri highways. The section near the settlement of Lanjik is difficult to pass for all types of vehicles. Blizzards are observed on the road from Kuchak to Mirak, and the Dilijan-Vanadzor highway is difficult to pass for trailer vehicles.

Black ice is present in some areas of several regional roads, specifically in the sections of Aparan, Aragats, Sevan, Chambarak, Martuni, Gavar, Abovyan, Hrazdan, Nairi, Sisian, Goris, Ashotsk, and Amasia. Snow is currently falling in the regions of Nairi, Yeghegnadzor, Vayk, Sisian, Goris, Meghri, Aparan, Aragats, Spitak, Martuni, Sevan, Abovyan, and Tavush.

Other interstate and republican highways remain open. According to the Road Department, as of 09:00 on January 14, several roads in the republic are closed or difficult to pass due to snow, blizzards, and ice. Road workers are continuously carrying out cleaning and salt-sand treatment operations. At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reports that the Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed for all types of vehicles.
