The “culprits” of Yerevan’s potholes are changing: Avinyan presented new reasons

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan has clarified the factors behind the potholes that appeared on the capital’s streets following snow removal operations.

According to the Mayor, problems were primarily recorded in areas where sewage and water line installations had previously been carried out, meaning the asphalt surface had already been interfered with. According to him, potholes also formed on streets that have not undergone major or medium-scale repairs for a long time.

At the same time, Avinyan emphasized that part of the damage is also related to the large amount of salt used during snow removal. He reminded that compared to the previous year, a record volume of salt was used this winter during the period from December to January.

Earlier, the Mayor had stated that the salt accumulated on the streets must be removed as quickly as possible to enable the commencement of large-scale pothole filling operations.
