Armenia is the first country in the world to fully transition to an electronic employment contract system
A draft amendment to the Labor Code has been discussed, which proposes the implementation of an electronic employment contract system in Armenia.
The system is proposed to be introduced in phases: voluntarily starting from June 1, 2025, and mandatory from January 1, 2026.
The main advantages of this system include simplifying the process of employment contracts due to the absence of the need to gather paper documents, protection from social risks through the existence of contracts, reflection of payments and allocations to funds, and strengthening employer obligations toward employees. Employers will no longer need to perform duplicate actions; it will be sufficient to enter the employment contract, and it will automatically enter the unified registration system.
The electronic management platform will enable employees to have employment contracts that meet the legal requirements for hiring, while the supervisory body will be able to implement more transparent, accountable, controllable, and rights-based protections.
