When will the cleanup of salt and sand residues be completed?
The cleanup of salt and sand residues remaining on the streets of Yerevan after snow removal operations will be completed this week. This was announced by Sasha Katvalyan, Director of the “Yerevan Waste Removal and Sanitary Cleaning” (YWSC) agency, during the operational meeting on February 23.
According to him, the cleaning of the streets is somewhat delayed because the accumulated layer is thick and hardened, and some areas can only be cleared using tractors and shovels. After the initial cleaning, the areas are tidied up using vacuum and water-sprinkling trucks.
Last week, the YWSC agency utilized about 70 units of machinery, while the administrative districts provided 78 units of tractors and dump trucks. Katvalyan noted that about 70 percent of the work has already been carried out, and the process is expected to be finalized this week.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan reaffirmed the deadlines and inquired whether all administrative districts had provided the necessary machinery, to which Katvalyan responded, “almost all of them.”
