Online investment advertisements: A means for embezzling funds
During the preliminary investigation conducted by the Department of Crimes Against Property of the General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Committee, it was revealed that various individuals or groups pose as trustworthy investment organizations or specialists, offering projects promising high returns.
In reality, however, their goal is to mislead citizens and seize their financial resources.
Specifically, advertisements are posted on social platforms such as Facebook, Telegram, and others, offering opportunities to invest and earn money by providing a link where citizens fill in their personal data. Subsequently, contact is established through online communication tools like WhatsApp, Telegram, and other applications, where the terms for generating income are presented—primarily by creating websites with fake investment links attributed to foreign organizations. The citizen registers there, creates an account, and receives a phishing link. By entering their bank card identification data into these links, criminals embezzle funds in large or especially large scales.
The Investigative Committee warns citizens to refrain from following the dictated actions in case of such advertisements or messages and to immediately inform law enforcement authorities.
