The renovation of the Nor Hachn bridge has not been completed yet
Since August 20, 2024, the Nor Hachn bridge has been closed and remains closed until now. The Road Department has issued several announcements regarding changes in the construction completion date. The deadlines were shifted from October 6 to November 12, and later to the end of the year. As an alternative route, citizens have been advised to travel via the H-2, /H-1/ (Abovyan)-Arzni-/H-6/-Nor Geghi road, while vehicles with trailers are advised to use the T-6-54, /H-5/-Karenis-Charentsavan-/H-1/ and H-5, /H-6/ (Nor Geghi)-Argel-Arzakan-Hrazdan highways. However, citizens are dissatisfied.
We have received complaints, but we are not the builders, we are not the ones responsible. Like everyone else, we read the information from various sources, just like you do. At the moment, the Nor Geghi-Nor Hachn bypass road is heavily congested. When the snow comes, the situation will become even more difficult, — stated the community administration.
The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan, attended the construction of the bridge. As mentioned in the statement, specific instructions have been given to the builders to complete the renovation by the end of this year.
The bridge has serious issues and needs to undergo major reconstruction. As a rule, there is a preliminary design and a main design for bridges. The latter is made after removing the existing layers from the bridge, revealing the extent of the damage and the scope of work needed.
The bridge’s construction deadline is set for the spring or summer of 2025, meaning that no one has deviated from the deadline, — stated the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Gnel Sanosyan, during a Q&A session in the National Assembly.
The former Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Gnel Sanosyan, also mentioned that several materials for the construction of the bridge were imported from other countries.
The Nor Hachn bridge is the longest bridge in Armenia. It was commissioned in 1981. The upper deck of the two-story bridge is used by automobiles and trailers, while the lower deck is used by the railway.
