
In the battle for the title of World Chess Champion, Dommaraju Gukesh and Ding Liren played another draw
On Saturday, December 7, in the 10th game of the 2024 World Chess Championship, Indian grandmaster Dommaraju Gukesh and Chinese grandmaster Ding Liren drew again after 36 moves. This was the fastest draw in the championship so far.
For both Gukesh and Ding Liren, this was the seventh consecutive draw. Both have 5 points. The grandmasters have 4 games left to decide the World Champion title. In the case of equal points, a tiebreak will occur.
Gukesh ranks 5th in the FIDE ranking table with a rating of 2783, while Ding is 23rd with a rating of 2728.
Ding Liren won the 2023 World Chess Championship title, securing victory in the fourth tiebreak round. He is the only Chinese chess player to have achieved this result.
