Shant Sargsyan shares the first place after 5 rounds at the “Qatar Masters Open 2024”
The international chess tournament “Qatar Masters Open 2024” is underway in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Grandmasters Hayk Martirosyan, Shant Sargsyan, Manuel Petrosyan, and Tigran Harutyunyan are representing Armenia in the tournament.
After 5 rounds, Shant Sargsyan has scored the highest among the Armenian players with 4.5 points. He shares the first place with Indian grandmaster Karthikeyan Murali. In the sixth round, the leaders will face each other on December 9.
Hayk Martirosyan and Tigran Harutyunyan have each scored 3.5 points, while Manuel Petrosyan has 2 points.
The tournament began on December 3 and will conclude on December 12. The prize fund is $94,250. The winner will receive $25,000, the runner-up $15,000, and the third-place finisher $10,000.
