A boxing evening will once again take place in Armenia, where Armenian boxers will step into the professional ring

Representatives of Armenia’s men’s boxing team will once again compete in the professional ring.

Thanks to the cooperation between the Armenian Boxing Federation and the International Boxing Association (IBA), the “Champions’ Night-IBA” professional boxing event will take place for the second time on January 17 at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. During the event, Armenian boxers will also step into the ring.

Olympic participant Davit Chaloian will compete against Cuban Lenier Pero in the heavyweight category of the IBA’s “Strongest Team” quarterfinals. Professional matches will also be held by Narek Manasyan, Artur Bazeyan, Ararat Harutyunyan, Gurgen Madoyan, and Karen Tonakanyan.

The main event of the evening will feature the WBA Asia championship belt, where Russian Pavel Sosulin will compete against Filipino Carlo Baccaro.

The first “Champions’ Night-IBA” professional boxing evening in Armenia took place in October 2024. During that event, European Championship silver medalists Artur Bazeyan (2022), Baregham Harutyunyan (2024), Rafael Hovhannisyan (2022), and World Cup runner-up, Olympic participant Davit Chaloian (2024) made their professional debut in the ring.

It is worth noting that this year’s European Under-23 Championship will be held in Armenia. In 2024, Armenian athletes returned from the competition with 5 medals.
