
Arayik Harutyunyan Elected President of Armenia’s Weightlifting Federation
Arayik Harutyunyan has been elected as the President of the Armenian Weightlifting Federation. For the past 4 years, he has served as the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Harutyunyan will lead the federation for a 4 year term. He was the sole candidate for the position. Since 2016, the Armenian Weightlifting Federation had been headed by Hrachya Rostomyan. He announced his resignation a few days ago.
The 46-year-old Arayik Harutyunyan served as the Minister of Education and Science from 2018 to 2019 and as the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports from 2019 to 2020. On November 24, 2020, he was appointed as the Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister, and on July 1, 2021, he became the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office.
