The draft law on the discovery of young people’s potential has been presented for the first time in Armenia

During today’s regular government meeting, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasian presented the draft law on “Youth Policy.”

The foundation of the youth-directed policy is the creation of favorable conditions and an environment for the development and self-realization of young people. This is also the focus of numerous programs in areas such as education, science, culture, sports, high technologies, and other sectors of the economy.

Until now, such legislation has not existed in Armenia. The draft law on “Youth Policy” will outline youth policy, its targets, goals, institutional framework, and beneficiaries.

The law defines the priorities of the state youth policy. This policy is established as a system of programs and activities adopted by the Government. It aims to uncover and develop the potential of young people. The law also sets forth the powers for the implementation of youth policy by state and local self-government bodies.

The existence of the law will support the establishment of youth centers outlined in the government’s program. Centers currently operate in Aparan, Dilijan, Ijevan, Vanadzor, and Meghri. 4 more centers will open in different regions. The next year’s budget plan allocates funds for 6 centers. These centers also address young people who are neither employed nor studying. The age limit is proposed to be set between 13 and 35 years.

The law has been revised. More than 3 dozen discussions have taken place in Yerevan and the regions, with the participation of young people.
