A New Bridge to Be Built in Karkop
The village of Karkop in the Lori region will soon have a new bridge designed for vehicles.
Since the flooding in May 2024, residents have been using only a pedestrian bridge. This information was shared by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Davit Khudatyan.
The metal structures for the bridge were transported to Armenia with the support of Greece, and the installation work is nearing completion. According to the Minister, a similar bridge has already been installed in the village of Hobardzi, where infrastructure was also significantly damaged due to flooding.
The floods caused by heavy rainfall on May 25-26 inflicted substantial damage on the Lori region. In Karkop, a temporary bridge had been constructed, but it lasted only five days before being swept away by torrential rains. Afterward, efforts were made to restore the bridge. The connection to the village was maintained via the pedestrian bridge.
