42 Packages of Marijuana Discovered on Yerevan–Sevan–Ijevan Highway; Driver Arrested
Patrol officers stopped a “VAZ-217020” vehicle, and during the inspection, masses resembling narcotics were discovered in plain sight within the cabin. It was established that the vehicle was driven by a 23-year-old resident of the city of Ashtarak.
According to preliminary data, the young man acquired the drugs via a Telegram channel for the purpose of distribution. Some of the 42 packages he obtained had been placed in various locations along the Yerevan–Sevan–Ijevan highway within the administrative territory of Sevan, while the remaining portion was found inside the vehicle.
The driver was arrested and taken to the police station along with the vehicle. During a personal search, a package containing a mass resembling a drug and a dropper with half-ashed traces were found in his possession.
Within the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings, an inspection carried out at the 57th km section of the Sevan–Ijevan highway led to the discovery of 21 packages of marijuana. Another 21 packages were found during a search of the vehicle, which had been moved to a specially protected area.
The 23-year-old man has been detained. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
