Lars is closed for trucks
Due to snowfall on the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway, the Cross Pass is closed for trucks in both directions.
The road remains open for light passenger vehicles.
The road leading from the Amberd high-altitude meteorological station to Kari Lake in the Aragatsotn region is also closed due to snow.
It should be noted that construction of a tunnel leading to Upper Lars is currently underway in Georgia. This project aims to reduce the travel time from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda by approximately one hour. Additionally, the 34-kilometer-long route will be shortened by 11 kilometers.
According to preliminary data, the construction is expected to be completed this year.
