An international conference dedicated to Artsakh will be held in Italy
On November 18-19, an international conference dedicated to the preservation of Artsakh’s cultural heritage will be held in Rome. The conference is titled “Sacred Grounds, Shared Vision.” It will take place at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas. Online participation will also be available.
The conference will feature both individual presentations and round table discussions. Several Armenian and European experts will deliver speeches. Marco Bais from Rome’s La Sapienza University will present on the topic, “The Use and Abuse of Classical and Medieval Sources about Caucasian Albania.” Caucasologist Jost Gippert from the University of Hamburg will discuss, “ Albanian Inscriptions in Artsakh?” Annegret Plontke-Lüning from the University of Jena will give a “ The Architectural Heritage of Artsakh: a Historical Overview” while Hamlet Petrosyan from Yerevan State University will address “The Current Situation of Monuments in Artsakh.” The event will conclude with a round table and closing remarks.
The conference is organized by the Representation of the Armenian Apostolic Church to the Holy See and the Angelicum Institute of Ecumenical Studies, under the auspices of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
