One of the Streets in Astana Will be Named After Mashtots
Tomorrow, on November 21, one of the streets in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, will be officially named after Mesrop Mashtots. This initiative is taking place within the framework of Kazakhstan-Armenia friendship.
Last year in April, during the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Yerevan, the issue of establishing a park named after Mashtots in Astana and a park named after the Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev in Yerevan on the principle of reciprocity was discussed.
This year in April, by the decision of the Yerevan Council of Elders, the park adjacent to the Almaty Street (Alma-Ata Street) in the Avan administrative district was named after Abai Kunanbayev, the founder of Kazakh literature. The ceremony, organized by the Yerevan Municipality, was attended by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the RA, Zhanna Andreasyan, and the Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, Aida Balayeva. A memorial plaque to Abai Kunanbayev was also unveiled in the park.
