New Changes in EU Import Procedures Starting April 1
Starting from April 1, 2025, changes will be made to the European Union’s import control system, affecting businesses. According to the new regulations, railway and road transporters will be required to submit detailed information about goods sent to EU countries or through their territories to the EU customs authorities in advance, via the “Entry Summary Declaration” (ENS). If the data is not submitted on time, shipments may be delayed or canceled. These requirements also apply to postal and express deliveries, logistics providers, and, in certain cases, to final shipments within the EU.
All businesses that have not yet registered must apply to the relevant national service office by March 1, 2025, to obtain or update their “EORI” number. Without this step, they will not be able to use the deployment windows, which are available only upon request.
Similar security data requirements are already in place for air, sea, and inland waterway shipments.
