The Transport Project of “Academic City” Discussed
Today, at the Government session, Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan presented the transport and mobility project of “Academic City.”
The project proposes acquiring services from the Italian company “Systematica.” The minister noted that the key to the success of similar academic cities lies in their transportation connectivity and mobility opportunities.
The Prime Minister addressed the issue of smoothly reaching “Academic City” without traffic congestion.
We want to make the railway and its station the primary mode of transport, and as you know, we’ve already conducted a test. With today’s infrastructure, it took 25 minutes from Sasuntsi Davit station to the Academic City area, even with the slow speed. This means that with the appropriate developments, improved vehicles, and rail upgrades, this time can be significantly reduced.
The Prime Minister also mentioned the future construction of the “Academic City” metro station.
We will have a circular metro route in Yerevan, meaning the concept of a final stop as we know it could essentially disappear.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that cars are not planned to be operated within “Academic City.” The project is designed so that one can walk from one point of the city to another within 15 minutes.
