An “Epidemiological Filter” has been introduced in pre-school and school institutions

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports have introduced an “epidemiological filter” in pre-school and school institutions, upon exceeding the threshold of which, instruction will switch to a distance learning format. Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan wrote about this on her “Facebook” page.

The Minister noted that an activation of seasonal viruses is observed in Armenia. Influenza A(H3N2) type viruses are circulating, the main symptoms of which are high fever (39-40), cough, runny nose, muscle aches, and joint pains. In addition, rhino-, boca-, adenoviruses, and parainfluenza pathogens are also circulating.

According to Avanesyan, the “epidemiological filter” introduced in schools and kindergartens in cooperation with the MESCS during the acute respiratory infection season operates on the principle that if the threshold is exceeded, the educational process will temporarily be conducted in a distance learning format.

The Minister emphasized that the best means of influenza prevention is vaccination, which reduces the probability of infection, eases the course of the illness, and prevents complications.
