The cases of chickenpox and measles have decreased

In August 2024, a significant decrease in cases of chickenpox and measles was recorded in Armenia. While 52 cases of measles were registered at the beginning of the year, by August, this number had dropped to 8. According to official statistics, cases of chickenpox have also significantly declined, from 1,994 cases recorded at the start of the year to 456.

The Ministry of Health has repeatedly emphasized that vaccinations can help fight infectious diseases. As early as 2023, it was announced that the vaccination rate in Armenia had sharply increased.

Despite the decrease in cases, specialists note that it is still too early to talk about complete eradication. There are countries where vaccinations against these diseases are incomplete or limited. During travel to other countries, people may bring the infection back with them, which could lead to new outbreaks.
