Nobel Prize winners in chemistry have been announced
American scientists David Baker and John Jumper, along with British scientist Demis Hassabis, have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their work on deciphering protein structures and creating new ones. Their discovery paves the way for the development of new drugs.
David Baker succeeded in creating entirely new types of proteins. Demis Hassabis and John Jumper developed an artificial intelligence model capable of predicting the complex structure of proteins. Around 200 million protein structures have been uncovered, enabling gradual progress toward breaking down plastic as well.
Their discoveries have a significant impact on the development of drugs, pharmaceuticals, and vaccines.
