Court reinstates Bishop Gevorg Saroyan as Primate of the Diocese of Masyatsotn

By the decision of the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Armavir Province, Bishop Gevorg Saroyan will be reinstated as the Primate of the Diocese of Masyatsotn until a final judicial act is issued in the case.

The information was confirmed by Bishop Gevorg Saroyan himself, noting that the court granted the motion in his filed lawsuit and applied a measure to secure the claim. According to him, the allegations against him are fabricated, and he has not committed any legal or disciplinary violations.

Earlier, Bishop Gevorg Saroyan had filed a lawsuit against the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, demanding to invalidate the Pontifical Order of Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, dated January 10, 2026, regarding his dismissal from the post of Primate of the Diocese of Masyatsotn, and to be reinstated to his previous position. The lawsuit was entered into the Armavir Province Court on January 15 and assigned to Judge Edgar Hovhannisyan.

It is worth recalling that on January 10, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin reported that by the order of the Catholicos, His Eminence Bishop Gevorg Saroyan was dismissed from the post of Primate of the Diocese of Masyatsotn on the grounds of violations committed during the performance of his duties.

By the court’s decision, the Bishop will continue to hold office until the final examination of the case and the publication of the judicial act.
