Armenia’s first satellite can make borders more secure
The Armenian first satellite, “ArmSat-1,” launched into space, will help make the country’s borders more secure. It can be used for military purposes.
Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry, mentioned during a briefing that images have been downloaded from the satellite, which can be applied in various sectors.
The satellite marks a significant step in starting activities in the space sector and having satellites in orbit. This is the point where further investments can be made in this field, resources can be concentrated, and data collected from the satellite can be applied.
The Armenian satellite, located at an altitude of 491,500 km, is primarily used for telecommunication purposes, but it can also help monitor the situation at the country’s borders.
The data sent by the satellite can also be used to prevent emergencies, protect the environment, in urban planning, road construction, geophysics, and other sectors.
This is Armenia’s first satellite. It was launched into space on May 25, 2022, aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. The satellite was created through the collaboration of Armenia’s state-owned “Geocosmos” and Spain’s “Satlantis” companies.
