A new resolution regarding Armenia has been adopted at the Francophonie Summit

Within the framework of the 19th Francophonie Summit, a resolution titled “Addressing and Strengthening Peace in Crisis Situations within the Francophone Region” was adopted, in which the 54 member states expressed their support for Armenia in the peace process.

The resolution emphasized the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and respect for the territorial integrity of both countries based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. Both countries were urged to refrain from warlike rhetoric and hate speech, which could hinder the peace process.

The resolution also highlighted the importance of the European Union’s Mission in Armenia (EUMA) and its contribution to stability in border areas.

A separate point discussed the need to provide ongoing humanitarian assistance to the 120,000 refugees from Artsakh and to address the issues of prisoners of war, detained, and missing persons.

The Francophonie reaffirmed its concern regarding the destruction of cultural heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh and neighboring regions, and the member states expressed their support for the implementation of a UNESCO mission to the area.

The 19th Francophonie Summit commenced on October 4 in the town of Villers-Cotterêts, France.
