David Arushanyan was appointed Governor of Shirak Province

David Arushanyan was appointed Governor of Shirak Province.

After resigning from his parliamentary mandate, Arushanyan stated that his decision was motivated by the intention to take on a different role.

On December 8-10, during the primaries held in Gyumri, David Arushanyan, who was also being considered for the position of Shirak Governor, participated in the elections. He received the second-highest number of votes, securing 220 votes. The winner of the primaries was independent candidate Sarik Minasyan, who received 253 votes.

Arushanyan was born in Gyumri. In 2003, he graduated from the Department of Geoecology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography of the Gyumri M. Nalbandyan State Pedagogical Institute. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Civil Contract Party. On October 26, 2022, he was elected a Member of Parliament through the national electoral list of the Civil Contract Party.

It is worth noting that during the government session on December 12, the Prime Minister announced that Shirak Governor Mushegh Muradyan had submitted his resignation.

Previously, during another government session, the Prime Minister had issued a severe reprimand to Mushegh Muradyan. The reason was naming one of the classrooms of Vahramabed School after a high-ranking official currently serving in the Armed Forces.
