The parliamentary elections have concluded in Georgia
According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, in the parliamentary elections held on October 26 in Georgia, the “Georgian Dream” party gained the majority of votes (52.99%). Four opposition coalitions — “Coalition for Change,” “Unity: National Movement,” “Strong Georgia,” and “For Georgia” alliances — collectively received 38.9% of the votes.
A total of 18 electoral parties were registered in the elections, with preliminary results indicating that five alliances have the potential to enter parliament.
The elections were conducted in tense conditions at several polling stations. In some places, altercations occurred, and videos were circulated showing attempts to place large quantities of ballots into boxes.
Nevertheless, preliminary data shows that the “Georgian Dream” party is leading and may secure 90 of the 150 seats in parliament.
