Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan undergoes surgery again
The primate of the Shirak Diocese, Archbishop Mikayel Ajapahyan, has once again undergone surgery. The information was provided by Armen Charchyan, the director of the “Izmirlian” Medical Center.
According to him, the intervention was of a urological nature. The surgery was successful. Currently, the Archbishop’s health condition is assessed as stable. Charchyan noted that at least two weeks are required for Ajapahyan’s recovery.
A criminal case had been initiated against him, after which he was detained in June of last year. In October, the court of first instance sentenced him to two years of imprisonment. The defense appealed the verdict, and in early February, the Court of Appeal replaced the detention with house arrest.
