RA Identity Cards to Get New Design and Security Features
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia (MIA or Ministry of Internal Affairs) has approved the new appearance and security components of the identity card. A delegation led by Minister Arpine Sargsyan visited the production facility of the French company IN Group in Ostrava, Czech Republic, where the card’s design and security systems were approved.
The production of raw materials has commenced. A number of technical issues related to the structure and design of the passport data page were also discussed. The Minister was presented with the modernization directions and technical solutions for electronic border management systems.
Furthermore, the Ministry addressed the progress of biometric system implementation, anticipated innovations, and development programs. Arpine Sargsyan emphasized that providing citizens with modern, secure, and new-quality services is a priority.
The MIA also informed that maximum effort is being made to start the production of biometric documents within the promised timeframe, the second half of 2026. Earlier, we reported that the French would be producing biometric passports for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.
