Social Support for Forcibly Displaced Persons from Artsakh to Continue with Certain Adjustments
The social support program provided by the state for forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh will continue with some exceptions until December 2025, inclusive. This was announced by Artak Harutyunyan, Head of the Demographics and Family Social Guarantees Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia. According to him, starting from January, the 10,000-dram support component has been removed, and only those receiving 50,000 drams are included in the payment lists. This applies to approximately 97,000 beneficiaries. By April 1, the number of beneficiaries is expected to decrease to around 54,000.
From April onwards, the support will be directed to specific groups: individuals aged 63 and older, minors, 18-year-olds still pursuing mandatory education, individuals with disabilities in the first and second groups, and those receiving survivor’s pensions or allowances. These groups will continue to receive social support: 40,000 drams per beneficiary for April through June, and 30,000 drams per beneficiary from July to December.
The adjustments were made based on analyses to ensure that the support is targeted toward specific groups. So, consideration was given to the ongoing housing program for forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh, their integration into society, and the fact that around 25,000 people have already found employment in Armenia.
Harutyunyan emphasized that beneficiaries of the housing program for forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh will not lose this support due to acquiring housing.
