A new metro station is planned near the Surmalu shopping center
The Yerevan Municipality will announce a competition for the design of a new metro station near the “Surmalu” shopping center.
The technical requirements have already been submitted for review by specialists, and after approval, which is expected by the end of October, a competition for the design will be announced, said Aneta Babayan, the mayor’s advisor.
Discussions about the construction of the “Petak” metro station began back in 2018. The proposed station is planned to be built between the “Sasuntsi Davit” and “Zoravar Andranik” metro stations. It is expected to ease traffic flow, reduce the number of cars, regulate pedestrian and transport flows, improve accessibility to the station, support the development of the metro system, and have an economic development effect on the surrounding areas.
