Burning Leaf Litter is Prohibited by Law

According to the “Law on Atmospheric Air Protection,” it is prohibited to burn waste from production, consumption, or leaf litter in residential areas, their surroundings, or other unauthorized locations, such as boiler houses, furnaces, designated sites, or unlicensed landfills. This information was shared by the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body.

Burning leaves produces fine particles, soot, carbon dioxide, and other substances that are harmful to human health.

Citizens violating this law will be fined 50,000 AMD, while officials will face fines of 200,000 AMD.

It is also forbidden to burn plant residues, dry vegetation areas, pastures, meadows, agricultural land, and forested or forest-adjacent areas. In such cases, fines can range from 50,000 to 300,000 AMD.
