Starting from January 1, card-based and electronic tickets will be offered for public transportation
By the decision of Yerevan City Council, starting from January 1, 2025, certain groups will be able to benefit from a discount system when using all types of public transportation. Residents will be able to purchase their tickets in electronic and card formats. Electronic tickets will be a few hundred drams cheaper than card-based ones.
Schoolchildren aged 8-17 and beneficiaries will generally receive a 20% discount, while students will get a 15% discount. The highest discount, 30%, will be available for pensioners.
Children under 7, one- or both-parentless schoolchildren and students, people with 1st or 2nd group disabilities, residents of nursing homes or orphanages, former USSR heroes, national heroes of Armenia, and those with 4 or more children will also benefit from the discount system.
To make 3 trips within a 90-minute period, citizens must purchase a ticket, priced at 300 drams for the card option and 280 drams for the electronic version. For unlimited travel within a day, the price will be 900 drams for the card and 880 drams for the electronic ticket. For 7 days of unlimited travel, the cost will be 5000 drams for the card option and 4800 drams for the electronic one.
This decision was initially planned to be implemented starting September 1, 2024, but due to technical issues, the deadline has been moved. The program will begin on January 1, 2025.
