Violators of Personal Mobility Device Traffic Rules Will Be Fined

Legislative amendments adopted by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, now in effect, regulate the traffic rules for personal mobility devices.

Personal mobility devices are electric scooters, electric skateboards, gyroscooters, segways, and similar equipment.

According to the amendments, violators of traffic requirements will be fined five times the minimum monthly wage. Individuals aged 18 and older, as well as those aged 16 and above with an “AM” category license, are permitted to operate personal mobility devices. A study by the “Heratsi” Analytical Center found that all individuals hospitalized in 2022 due to traffic incidents involving personal mobility devices were adults.

Using these devices is allowed on bicycle or shared pedestrian-bicycle paths.

Transporting passengers or cargo with personal mobility devices is prohibited. For delivery workers operating bicycles or mopeds without a helmet or with an unfastened helmet, a fine equal to seven times the minimum wage is imposed.

The use of personal mobility devices on roadways is allowed in a single row, driving in tunnels or on wet roads is strictly prohibited.
